portfolio review

Such a great event for graphic design students to attend. In the event I have talked to six designers and creative directors in the graphic design field. I have learn a lot form all the different reviewers. They have gave me many advice and comments on my work, therefor I can see my strength and weakness. The portfolio review also gave me an opportunity to get some freelance works.

As designers we have the ability to create communications and make things function better. Global warming is a big issue for our planet now, therefore we should understand the issue and help people to see how important issue is. I have found a very nicely designed website about what designers can do to help our planet.

Ed Fella

Ed Fella was practiced as a commercial graphic designer for 30 years, but at the same time he always have some personal projects(more experimental) on the side. He likes to find and explore vernacular typography and do sketches. He have archived hundred of sketchbooks, and those sketchbooks are source for his inspiration. He calls himself an exit level designer that does not know how to use computer, but I still think of him as a design hero. Now, most of designers are to dependent on computer, and it also change our thinking process. I believe it will be a great idea to spend some time to sketch out ideas in a daily basis.

Is it necessary to packaging things? I keep asking myself the same question.... I believe the answer is yes. Because it not only protect things, but also help the sale. But once we purchased something packaging were usually end up in the trash can. So wouldn't it be nice to re-purpose packaging?.. I have found a very brilliant idea on how to package a flat screen TV.
